10TH ANNUAL FOUNDER’S DAY SET FOR MAY 19

The proud heritage of our city will be on full display, along with a cannon, some squabbling Yankees and Rebels and a horse drawn wagon, on Beckley’s 10TH annual Founder’s Day celebration, beginning at 11 am, Saturday, May 19. Founder’s Day is sponsored by the Raleigh County Historical Society, Inspectrite Services, Inc., and Novas Remediation Corp.

The event features free lunch on the lawn, free wagon rides to Wildwood Cemetery, a blacksmith demonstration, a cannon brigade, and re-enactors.

Founder’s Day festivities take place rain or shine. Wildwood House is located on S. Kanawha St., across from Memorial Baptist Church, and parking is available nearby. For more information regarding Founder’s Day, contact Cindy Worley at (304) 228-1852.
